Marketing Manager, Market Development

Summary: The Transcarotid Artery Revascularization (TCAR) procedure is a novel and disruptive treatment paradigm for carotid artery disease and stroke prevention. In addition to the clinical performance of the therapy itself, a key driver of market adoption will require a fundamental shift in the well-established treatment algorithms for carotid artery disease.

The Marketing Manager, Market Development will be responsible for key market development initiatives to drive TCAR market adoption:

  1. Developing and updating local and national marketing assets & collateral as part of a comprehensive market development toolkit, and
  2. Collaborating with field sales & marketing teams to incorporate and implement market development activities

The ideal candidate should be experienced in leading cross-functional projects, as success will ultimately be dependent on the motivations and commitment of other key internal and external stakeholders: physicians, hospital administrators, and field sales reps. Due to the evolving nature of market development, novel key performance metrics will need to be developed and refined in consultation with Marketing, Sales, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs and other Silk Road Medical departments.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop marketing materials to support community outreach initiatives, both to the referring physicians and patients/caregivers
  • Coordinate with the field sales team and internal SRM departments to update and distribute market development tools
  • Help develop salesforce training materials on market development topics and activities
  • Acquire and analyze carotid disease diagnose, management, and treatment trends
  • Support field-based activities, such as local news stories, referral events, and patient fairs
  • Collect and share market development best practices with internal and external stakeholders
  • Track and measure impact of market development activities
  • Comply with all regulatory and clinical requirements in marketing materials and messaging

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required:

  • 4-7 years of marketing experience in the healthcare industry, preferably in a downstream marketing or market development role. Knowledge of vascular disease would be ideal
  • Demonstrated experience in community outreach programs, in both referral marketing and patient (DTC) marketing campaigns
  • Ability to coordinate multiple projects with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Ability to motivate and influence external stakeholders using indirect incentives
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and presentation skills
  • Analytical skills to track, measure, and report on campaign effectiveness and ROI
  • Professional work ethic and ability to operate independently in an organized fashion
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat required, InDesign, Photoshop, and video editing skills preferred

Travel Required: 

  • The candidate must be flexible to travel 30%. Overnight travel, inclusive of workweek and weekends will be required


  • This position is based in Sunnyvale, CA and reports to the Director, Market Development
